History
The owner, Rob Walden, has been working on cars in some fashion for nearly his entire life—starting at the young age of 9. In his early 20s, Rob was living in Seattle and often bought gas at the 76 station that now houses Scanwest Autosport. When the property came up for sale, he jumped at the opportunity to open his own shop. Rob developed a passion for Saabs early on and never looked back.
Scanwest originally opened as Saab Masters in 1985 and has been growing ever since. Rob’s commitment to getting the job done right—and at a fair price—has inspired the entire team for decades, creating a customer-first culture built on trust, precision, and expert care.
In the 1990s, the shop caught the attention of Saab for its rally racing success with the classic 900. Scanwest won numerous races with our modified 900, leading Saab to sponsor us for the SCCA Rally seasons of 1996 and 1997. Saab provided a new 1995 900 and a truckload of extra parts. After tuning it into a 300hp monster, we went on to win the 1997 SCCA Pro Rally Group 5 Championship.

Since the rally days, we’ve shifted gears from racing to performance tuning—focusing on enhancing customer cars with Abbott performance parts. And while we still love building faster Saabs, our priority has always been meeting the everyday needs of our customers.
Scanwest has expanded several times in recent years and now services a broader range of vehicles—including Subaru, MINI, Audi, and BMW—in addition to Saab. As our lineup grows, we continue to stay ahead of the technology curve by keeping our tools and training up to date, ensuring the most accurate and efficient service possible.
We invite you to come down and meet the Scanwest Autosport family.
